Fly Tipping in Lower Sunbury - What Can You Do?

Fly Tipping in Lower Sunbury - What Can You Do?The photograph depicts an incident of fly tipping on the cycle path at the end of Sunna Gardens. The Council is arranging for a clear-up this weekend and, indeed, has proved to be very responsive when incidents such as these are reported to it. Residents are encouraged to notify www.spelthorne.gov.uk/article/2235/Fly-tipping if they discover any illegal deposits. Should the crime of fly-tipping actually be witnessed, then the police should be notified in the usual way using the 999 emergency service.

The above item fails to mention the very different response, or rather total lack of any response, by Spelthorne Council if the fly-tipping, even if of dangerous materials such as asbestos, is anywhere other than on "public land".
Residents waste their time reporting to the council any fly-tipping which is not on "public land".
Exposure to asbestos can result in a cancer, which is incurable and particularly painful, after an incubation period which can be several decades long.
The council are apparently quite happy to ignore fly tipping of such material even if it is adjacent to a public road, a busy bus stop and a church where pre-school children and their mothers meet each week.

Fly tipping results directly from the EU landfill tax. This tax goes directly to the EU and this revenue stream will increase by the EU decreeing more and more items as fit only for landfill, like used sandbags. Waste food also has to go to landfill, hence the need for the Charlton incinerator. The UK is not short of landfill sites but parts of the EU state are, Netherlands for instance and the EU plan only for the United States of Europe.
