Gaming machines including those in betting shops and licensed premises are regulated by the Gambling Act 2005.

On 31 October, the Government published a consultation about:

• maximum stakes and prizes that should be allowed for all gaming machines;
• how many gaming machines should be allowed in all licensed premises;
• what further social responsibility measures should be put in place to minimise the risk of gambling harm
