Spelthorne Borough Council has confirmed the rollout of new lamp‑column electric vehicle chargepoints across the borough, with the first installation package now prepared. These charge points will be fitted directly into existing streetlight columns and have been assessed against Surrey’s technical design requirements, with input from the Council’s parking engineers. Divisional Councillors have already been notified of the selected sites.
The chargepoint sockets will be installed into existing lamp columns, no bay markings applied to the road and no new parking restrictions. Installation will not require any excavation and be completed in part of one day. The modest nature of these single chargepoints and the fact that there is no statutory requirement for consultation means that installations will proceed without notification to nearby residents. We expect installations to commence from 22nd June.
