Welcome to the LOSRA Website

Like any local community, the policies and decisions shaping the character and future of Lower Sunbury are influenced by a combination of local and national government initiatives, alongside market forces and vested interests operating within these frameworks. As with many areas, Lower Sunbury faces challenges stemming from an aging infrastructure, rapid urban development, increasing traffic congestion, and other pressures that impact both quality of life and the distinctive character of the neighbourhood.

In collaboration with local authorities, other residents’ associations and amenity groups, LOSRA plays a vital role in addressing fundamental issues that affect its members' lives. This organisation not only engages with broader strategic concerns but also focuses on the everyday matters that shape community well-being.

To stay informed, we encourage you to subscribe to our regular e-bulletins via the link at the top left of this page. Your continued support is essential to our efforts, and we urge you to join or renew your membership. Subscriptions for 2026 are now payable at £5 per household. Donations are also welcome.

14th, 15th, 16th April at Riverside Arts Centre, 59 Thames St.

'Two' is a touching & humorous tale of an evening in a small pub, where we meet the landlord and landlady who chat happily to us (though not to each other) and introduce us to a variety of local characters - couples, singles, children, old men and women who all have a story to tell.. This diverse group of customers each share a very personal moment of their lives with us, and the secrets and revelations unravel into an emotional conclusion.

'Two' will be moving, funny, shocking and heart-warming. Seating is limited so advanced booking is recommended. Tickets £10 from box office 01932 564 891.

Do You Want to Start Your Own Business?

Dominic de Lord of Crick Heitman Chartered Accountants, a LOSRA sponsor and our honorary auditor, is offering to provide free and independent advice to any Lower Sunbury Resident who is considering starting up a business; and to make introductions to existing local businesses.

If you are interested, please give Dominic a call on 01784 243054.

Parking MetersResidents may already be aware of the SCC online petition to lodge objections to the Surrey-wide proposal to introduce on-street parking charges . following information is being circulated to everyone in Surrey in an effort to achieve the 20,000 signatures needed to force a formal debate.

To object to Surrey County Council’s proposals to introduce on-street parking charges throughout the county please sign this online petition. It only takes a couple of minutes and you could help retain the vitality of our Surrey towns and save hundreds of local shops and businesses who are already struggling to survive in this fragile economic climate.

If 20,000 signatures are collected before 23rd March, SCC will have to take the escalating protests seriously because they will then be compelled to hold a formal debate. Don't delay; this petition merely demands a formal debate, a democratic right to which we should feel entitled with or without a petition!

PASS THIS ON TO AS MANY OF YOUR CONTACTS AS POSSIBLE AND SAVE THE VITALITY OF OUR SURREY TOWNS.

LOSRA has been notified that the Planning and Regulatory Committee of Surrey County Council which was due to sit today at 3pm (see article of 3rd March) has been cancelled. We had to recognise our limitations when up against a big corporation and the vested interests of Surrey County Council; and, despite the cost, we had no choice but to seek the opinion of a most respected QC and a specialist in planning law.

Our Solicitor, having taken the QC's advice, has written to the Head of Legal Services at Surrey County Council and argued on very powerful grounds for refusing the application. It is a great relief to hear that the Planning Committee has now been cancelled, if only for the time being. It can only be hoped that this misconceived application will itself ultimately put into the recycling bin .
